I wanted a compact, affordable, mains isolated oscilloscope. The FNIRSI 2C53T was the answer. I use it for analysing voltages on my modular audio synthesisers. After a day of reading the manual and experimenting, I was confident in using it. Very pleased with my purchase. Real time voltage versus time, capacitance, current and voltage measurements — perfect. All the cables and probes needed to get you going from day one. For the older generation, get the pdf version of the manual as the paper booklet had very small font.

Great bit of kit! Only really used the multimeter and the oscilloscope so far(motorcycle mechanic)-but both functions work very well. Any fuzzy areas with use can easily be found out by looking at independent users on YouTube.

The last time I used an oscilloscope, the Tektronix 465 was the current state of the art! That thing was the size (and weight) of a VCR!! 35 years later and things seem to have moved on!!!
For the casual user who wants to monitor and measure any varying signal, be it digital or or sinusoidal or otherwise, this little multimeter has you covered. The fact that it does a fine job of also measuring voltage, current, resistance, capacitance and continuity as well makes this little portable device a real magician!!

-- The control user interface is a little clunky and requires some getting used to. You'll be pressing a lot of button sequences to get to the adjustment / function you're after.
-- The accompanying manual looks high quality but I found it a little vague and quite a few funtions aren't properly explained. Even YouTube reviewers don't cover every facet of the device. Here, there room for improvement I think.
-- It states that the firmware can be updated, but I had a bad experience with this and I recommend not attempting a firmware update unless Fnirsi themselves ask and support you in doing this.
All in all, the 2C53T oscilloscope / multimeter is an amazing instrument considering its price. I naturally hope it will give me many years of fault free use and if it does, I will be more than satisfied with my purchase! I can thoroughly recommend it!

A great tool, but on the multimeter there is an issue with the AUTO measurement, which in my opinion it should be disabled by a firmware update. I’ve connected the multimeter to the output of a small flyback SMPS power adapter 6.5V, 500mA and it damaged it.
I think it tries initially to measure resistance instead of DC voltage resulting in a short circuit.
Other than that it’s really a great tool.
- Choosing a selection results in a full page refresh.
